Have you ever felt so much heart ache…so much brokenness…so much pain, that you truly longed for Heaven? You wanted to be there? You cried out with a broken heart begging God to please take you “Home"?
Reprieve. You just wanted reprieve from the pain.
I have been there, but never more so than when my five year old son, Sawyer, was unexpectedly called home. I was left feeling stuck. Stuck here, on earth, when my heart begged to go home.
This world is not our home. The trials of this life often leave us broken hearted, not knowing how to move forward. But, as believers who trust in Jesus, we have the promise of paradise, for eternity…a place beyond our wildest imagination. This is the assurance we have in our savior, Jesus Christ.
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
The more I learn about heaven, the more I long to be there….home.
But For Now...
God keeps bringing these three words to the forefront of my mind. “But for now” have kept my feet planted in the present and my gaze on eternity. For now, I am here. On earth.
While here, I have a call on my life. A God sized call. A call that is mine alone, given to me by my Heavenly Father. With this understanding, I find myself at a crossroads. I can choose to bury myself in the pain and let my sorrow paralyze me, or I can choose to allow God to use my life for His glory, however He sees fit.
I choose Jesus.
You, too, have a call on your life.
Are you on the hamster wheel of life with endless demands, schedules and commitments? Or have you relinquished control? Have you given Jesus the reigns and allowed him to direct your path? Or are you still holding on for dear life, living on your terms and relying on your own strength?
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
This life is not all there is…how we choose to live on earth will carry over into eternity. Today, I would encourage you to lay the chaos aside. Live with purpose and allow the Lord to direct each step of your life. His plans are infinitely better than anything we could imagine. After all, He knows us better than we know ourselves. We only have one life to live....let's live it well!
This blog is about my journey of walking two worlds, living well on earth while my heart lives in heaven. Will you journey along with me, laugh with me, cry with me and see God’s goodness with me? That would bless my heart!
